Packaging is part of the magnesium ingot specification because it affects handling, traceability and the condition received. The final arrangement should be agreed with the order rather than assumed from a catalog photo.
Define the unit and bundle
Confirm the approximate ingot weight, ingots per bundle or pallet, net and gross weight, strapping, pallet requirement and lifting method. Zhonghao’s reference ingot is approximately 7.5 kg, but dimensions, weight tolerance and packing remain subject to order confirmation.
Protect against moisture and contamination
Store ingots in a dry, controlled area and avoid contact with incompatible materials or contaminants. The receiving plant should follow its approved material-handling and molten-metal safety procedures. If wrapping or weather protection is required, state the material and inspection expectation.
Make markings useful
Markings may include product grade, lot number, net weight, bundle number, supplier/consignee information and order reference. Confirm language, label durability and any destination requirements. The lot shown on the COA should be traceable to the bundle markings.
Plan the container or truck load
The shipment plan should consider bundle dimensions, weight distribution, securing, unloading equipment and local transport rules. Inspect the loading unit for cleanliness, dryness and visible damage before loading. Record approved loading photos when required by the order.
Documents and pre-dispatch checks
- Packing list with bundle and weight details
- Commercial invoice and agreed shipping documents
- Lot-linked COA
- Packing and marking photos if requested
- Container or vehicle number and seal where applicable
- Third-party inspection report when contracted
State acceptance criteria
Define how damaged straps, broken bundles, wet packaging, weight differences or marking errors will be handled. Photographs are useful evidence but do not replace a written packing specification.
A complete RFQ should include quantity, grade, packing format, destination, Incoterm, unloading constraints, markings and inspection requirements. This allows technical and logistics planning to begin before the goods are prepared.
