“PE film grade” is not a complete purchasing specification. Buyers should identify the resin family, film process, structure and end use before asking a supplier to match a producer grade.
Describe the film line and package
State blown or cast film, mono- or multi-layer structure, thickness, line conditions and the finished package. Identify sealing, stiffness, toughness, clarity, haze or other performance targets important to the application.
Use test conditions with values
MFR or MFI and density values are meaningful only with the applicable test method and condition. Provide an approved reference grade when available, together with additive, colour and processing requirements.
Verify producer documents
Request the applicable TDS, SDS, batch COA and food-contact or other regulatory declarations. A commercial offer should name the producer and grade rather than claim that all HDPE, LDPE or LLDPE are interchangeable.
