Magnesium ingot prices move because a quotation combines the metal market with a specific product and delivery scope. A market headline and a firm export offer are not the same thing.
Supply-side drivers
Feed materials, energy, plant operating conditions, maintenance, environmental controls and regional logistics can influence production cost and available output. The importance of each factor changes over time, so a single explanation should not be treated as permanent.
Demand-side drivers
Demand can come from aluminum alloying, magnesium alloy and die-casting production, steel treatment and other qualified uses. Inventory decisions can amplify short-term movements when buyers replenish or reduce stocks at the same time.
Grade and quality scope
Mg99.95 and Mg99.90 should not be compared as if they were identical. Critical impurity limits, ingot condition, lot documentation, sampling and third-party inspection may change the commercial scope.
Delivery terms and currency
A complete comparison records quotation date, validity, Incoterm, shipment window, quantity, packing, destination, freight basis, payment terms and currency. Two offers can show different headline prices while delivering different obligations.
Use a normalized comparison table
| Field | Offer A | Offer B |
|---|---|---|
| Grade and impurity limits | ||
| Quantity and packing | ||
| Incoterm and destination | ||
| Shipment window | ||
| Inspection/documents | ||
| Payment and validity |
Market information is context, not a commitment
Price reports may use a regional, tax, payment or delivery basis that differs from an export order. Record the publisher’s methodology and timestamp. Ask the supplier for a firm, dated quotation after providing the complete RFQ.
This article intentionally does not publish a current price. For a comparable quotation, send the required grade, quantity, destination, Incoterm, packing, inspection and requested shipment period.
