Formed Coke is a manufactured, shaped carbon material. A buyer should not assume it is interchangeable with every conventional coke product simply because both contain carbon. The relevant comparison depends on the intended furnace or industrial use.

Compare the commercial specification first

Zhonghao’s catalog reference for Formed Coke lists volatile matter 5–10%, fixed carbon ≥79%, moisture 3–6%, sulfur ≤0.3%, ash ≤10%, size 20–70 mm and calorific value 26–29 MJ/kg.

These indicators describe the offered product more precisely than a generic category name. When comparing suppliers, place each quotation in the same table and check whether the analytical basis and units match.

Product form matters

Shaped material may be considered for handling, charging or process reasons, but the required physical behavior must be stated by the buyer. Avoid assuming that a chemical table alone confirms mechanical performance.

Questions for the supplier

  • Which product name and grade does the analysis cover?
  • What size is being quoted?
  • How will sampling and inspection be handled?
  • What packing and loading arrangement is included?
  • Which documents will accompany the shipment?

Use the correct name in the RFQ

Use “Formed Coke” and mention “Shaped Coke” only as an alternate catalog term. Do not request “metallurgical coke” if the actual requirement is the formed product described above; ambiguous naming can lead to an invalid comparison.
